Intro

The Emerald Soča is a stunningly beautiful river valley with its source above Trenta in the heart of Triglav National Park and running down to the Italian Adriatic. The upper stretch of the valley runs through the beautiful Julian Alps and is a magnet for adventure sports lovers – offering a dizzying abundance of water and mountain activities.

Our operations base is Bovec – the main town in the area, a charming little place with lots of good restaurants, bars and places to stay and a growing global reputation for adventure sports. The town of Kobarid is also half an hour’s drive down the valley, a small but beautiful town boasting some of Slovenia’s finest restaurants and a first class museum about the role of the town and locality as a major front in the 1st World War. It is the perfect adventure getaway for active families and adults in an unspoilt part of Europe often over-looked by the mass tourism industry…we also have excellent accommodation options – camping, hostel – bed and breakfast, log cabins, apartment or hotel.

iItinerary

Day 1: ARRIVAL

Arrival day – check in to your accommodation followed by trip briefing with our holiday representative in Bovec.

Day 2: RAFTING

Rafting descent

Start: 09:00 or 15:00

Equipment: helmet, life jacket, 3mm neoprene suit, jacket, neoprene shoes

Required personal equipment: swimsuit, towel, T-shirt

River section: Boka Waterfall – Trnovo ob Soči

Difficulty: I-III (IV)

Duration: cca 1,5 h (on water)

Length: 10 km (on water)

Day 3: HIKING

Unspoiled nature, rich history, authentic cuisine, the emerald Soca river and endless hiking options make the Upper Soca Valley a great hiking destination. Our hiking program lasts up to 4 hours and it’s suitable for everybody. The price includes guiding and entertainment. We can customise the hiking trail to each group fitness level but usually our hiking program takes us from the centre of Bovec uphill towards the church where we step on a dirt road that takes us across the southern foothills of Mt. Rombon in the direction of the Church of St. Lenart – Kluže fortress – Koritnica river – Bavšica – Šumnik creek – Kal-Koritnica – Soca river – Jablanca – Soča – Vodenca – Bovec. Depending on the group’s physical ability in Kal Koritnica we have the option to take a look at Celo (Svinjak), outdoor museum of the First World War or even ascend to the summit of Svinjak and than be shuttled back to Bovec.

Day 4: CANYONING

Canyoning Sušec

Sušec is the most popular canyon in Soca Valley because there is almost no need for ropes (rope technique) and the fun is unlimited. The gorge of the Sušec stream is a big natural playground where waterfalls and small pools are ideal for jumping, sliding and splashing around. The canyon is not vertical at all. There is only one short abseil down an 11m waterfall.

Day 5: ROCK CLIMBING

Climbing

Start: 09:00 or 15:00

Equipment: Harness, helmet, rope, belay devices, carabiners, quickdraws, climbing shoes, chalk

Duration: 2-3 h

Day 6: MOUNTAIN BIKING

Mountain bike tour

Start: 09:00 or 15:00

Tour: Bovec and surroundings

Duration: cca 3-4 h

Day 7: SIT ON TOP KAYAKING

Easy to use, very stable & un-sinkable sit-on-tops ensure that anyone can enjoy a descent with no previous experience. Sit-on-top kayaks are very beginner friendly while providing enough of a challenge for experienced kayakers. Our trips are excellent for families with small children as parents are free to enjoy the river while kids are safe in the hands of our guide on a two-seater kayak. For a more relaxing experience we organize sit-on-top tours on the lake. If the water level is high you will need basic kayaking skills to enjoy this experience

Day 8: DEPARTURE

Depart after breakfast for airport and flight home
