Istria Multi-activity holiday

Arrival in Porec, meeting with guide and presentation of programme.

Orientation walk around the old town, famous for Eufrasius Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Meeting with our guide and introduction to our sea-kayaks and safety gear. We are then shown how to handle these easy to paddle craft and then we are off, paddling besides the city walls and around the islands to the wild beach for a swimming and snorkeling.

Transfer to Buje where we will start biking (on macadam) on the legendary route of the Parenzana, the former narrow-gauge railway line which deeply penetrates into the Istrian peninsula and from Porec to Trieste connects 33 Istrian cities, which today are located on the territory of three independant states. Passing through magnificent rolling landscapes and lively Istrian vineyards, once it was known as the railway of the wine. After a pleasant and exciting ride from the charming medieval town of Grožnjan to Vižinada we will pass through many tunnels, over old bridges and stop at many fascinating view points where you will be able to take photos.

You are free to spend a day on the beach, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking or you can optionally choose our fishing trip or other excursion from our programme.

Breakfast, transfer with minibus to the Cave Baredine in Nova Vas (Porec). The speleo adventure starts at the training ground Speleolit. After you have been given the necessary speleo equipment and acquainted with the safety codes of using the same, the practice of descending and climbing the rope begins. When all the participants have mastered the speleo technique, we enter the nearby cave. We go down to a depth of 35 metres, mastering all the pot-holes with the use of the rope. Participants are provided with speleo equipment, helmet with light and coveralls (due to the cave temperature of 10°C). Participants must have their own footwear (sport shoes or hiking boots) – sandals are completely unsuitable. In afternoon free time for beach or walking tour.

Short drive to Vrsar where we will start with our sea kayak adventure along the protected area of Lim fjord. You will enjoy paddling along the bay, with its steep banks, passing beside the cultivation of mollusks and fish to the end of Lim bay. During paddling we will make a stop on the wild beach for swimming and snorkeling. Hike to the Romuald’s cave, this 105 metre long cave consists of several impressive halls that have preserved evidence of permanent existence of life since prehistoric times. The entrance to the cave is 47 centimetres high, and the main hall is five to six metres high. Romuald’s Cave is a speleological phenomenon because the cave ornaments are located on the left side only, while the right side is empty.

After breakfast we transfer to Brgudac where we start our hiking tour. Before the climb towards Korita, you should fill your bottles with the spring water which will come in very handy later in the day. The Korita Peak is situated on Ćićarija, under the Brajko Peak (1092 m), and above the village of Brgudac. In Brgudac, near the trail leading uphill, you will notice seven water troughs, always filled to the brim from a pure, allegedly miraculous, spring water source. The hiking trail towards Korita starts in this very spot. After approximately forty minutes of leisurely walk, including the occasional rests, you will reach the peak from which you can marvel the enchanting view of central Istria. After a short break we proceed our hike towards the highest peak of Ćićarija, Planik (1272m). After hiking we drive to Hum – the smallest town in the world. Lunch and refreshment in and Istrian tavern “Humska konoba” – where you will have opportunity to taste typical Istrian lunch.. Return transfer in Poreč.
The hike is 5 hours long with 550m of elevation gain.
